New team member highlight: Matt Dills
Matt Dills recently joined Cornerstone as a Senior Property Manager. He oversees twelve medical office buildings in the Indianapolis area—managing day-to-day building operations and working with tenants to maximize each facility’s customer experience while delivering consistent financial returns to investors.
Matt comes from a unique background, and has been a great asset to the Cornerstone team. Upon graduating college, Matt helped manage Class-A office space consisting of two million square feet, worth roughly $250 million, on prestigious properties like Keystone at the Crossing and Lakefront at Keystone. In this capacity, his main focus was to recruit, train, and self perform as many services as possible to provide the largest return.
During his early years in real estate, Matt garnered experience delivering results for investors both private and institutional, as well as investors both domestic and foreign. He was also one of the youngest Certified Property Managers in the country, earning the designation at just 24 years of age.
After six years in the real estate industry Matt transitioned to help run his family’s chain of 15 grocery stores. He was named COO at age 29 and was responsible for overseeing all operations in addition to the leadership of 350 associates. While in the grocery industry, Matt and his wife founded the LemonOasis, a non-profit partnership between their grocery chain, the Louisville Metro Government, Catholic Charities, and the Dare to Care food bank. This partnership was the first of its kind in the US and Matt hopes it will be the blueprint to solving the Food Desert crisis in urban inner cities.
Growing up in the grocery industry two rules of customer service were instilled from birth, #1 – The Customer Is Always Right, and Rule #2 – If The Customer Is Ever Wrong, Refer to Rule #1. Matt tries to apply this philosophy on a daily basis for both tenants and owners.
Matt studied Finance/Real Estate and Management and Indiana University and currently resides on the north side of Indianapolis with his wife Emily and son Rory. Outside the office Matt enjoys running, hunting, fishing, and spending as much time as possible with his family.
Welcome to the team Matt! We’re glad to have you.
