Cornerstone handles property and facility management for nine OrthoIndy locations across central Indiana. Our staff oversees maintenance, facility improvements, furnishings, and third-party contracts including housekeeping and security. We work hard to make sure all facility operations are up to code, and our team keeps detailed records for regulatory and accreditation agencies. This leaves the hospital administration free to focus on core competencies like patient care and physician recruitment.
Outsourcing property and facility management is a growing trend for hospital systems—especially when it comes to outpatient or off-campus locations. Cornerstone works with OrthoIndy and other clients to ensure careful management of facility operations and compliance, streamlining the process and helping to protect the organization’s accreditation status.
Keeping up with accreditation and regulatory agencies
As a hospital system, OrthoIndy is accountable to accreditation agencies like HFAP, federal agencies like CMS, and the State Board of Health. These agencies frequently conduct audits and inspections, and they set compliance codes that are updated frequently. OrthoIndy brought Cornerstone on board to ensure consistency in reporting across all of their locations and to help their team stay up to date on changing accreditation requirements This includes arranging necessary facility upgrades, budgeting in new trainings and developing emergency preparedness plans.
Special training for maintenance techs and facility personnel
Because Cornerstone staff interfaces with patients on a regular basis, all of our techs complete rigorous training in infection control, health and safety. This includes many of the same healthcare clearances and onboarding programs as the OrthoIndy nurses. Every facility worker from maintenance to housekeeping is well-versed in compliance requirements specific to their role.
